It's hard to find other non-religious people who are virgins, though I know they are still out there. The few I have met, I just didn't have a connection with them. It drives me nuts when people have asked me through e-mails, "So why do you want to be with a virgin?"

When you're in your twenties and haven't had intercourse yet, it's important to some people to go ahead and save it. I can't help it if the only boys who have been interested in me have been ones I wasn't attracted to, ones I could not see myself making love to. This is not being an idealist, a puffy romantic. I just can't see myself having sex, making love, to someone that I don't have feelings for. A few times in my life I feel like people have tried to make me feel like, somehow, I've been responsible for not losing my virginity already. It's my fault that I haven't fallen in love enough to do this?

It wasn't always this way. I hadn't given virginity too much of a thought other than eventually not being one anymore. But after having my heart broken, I realized that I wanted to share my virginity for the first time with someone who was saving his, too. It never had to be for religious reasons but for the sake of love.

Surely no one is going to fault me for not having fallen in love. It's not easy. Anyone who has been on earth long enough knows that you can't just snap your fingers and have it happen.

It gets tough as you get older. Especially when others find out you are a virgin. I have some guys at work tease about it a little and say it is silly. I will never find a guy who isn't going to want to have sex before marriage/ surely falling in love- apparently it's part of the 'trial process"

I just registered to say that I hate seeing abuse of power in any form or shape. What would happen with the Internet if every webmaster suppressed material deemed objectionable?

Why were the Intangible's posts deleted? Yeah, they were longer than necessary, a bit harsh, but they were funny as hell. I LMAO on that definition of sex, and other stuff. It's true that love is better than chocolate, and that the chocolate is better than sex, and, IMHO, those posts were accurate on other things too, like that it's easier to open your legs than your heart... I mean, is it for love's sake or not?

Censorship says more about the person who censors, than about the person who gets censored, so I won't mind if you delete this too.

Here's the deal. I've been online for years. I've seen other people run forums and sometimes thought it was stupid the material that they deleted.

Now, since this is my forum, and I did think that the other user's comments were "harsh," I deleted them.

This place is intended to be a safe haven and be supportive for the intended users and not for a few to come along and say nasty things.

If you were wondering: no, I don't believe in censorship. If you still can't understand why, re-read the line above.

Hi, Thanks for starting this. It's really encouraging to know there are others "out there." Well, my story is, I used to be very religious, but throughout high school and college I became very fascinated by theology, and eventually that led to philosophy. After reading a (very long and boring) book called The Quest of the Historical Jesus by Albert Schweitzer, which basically is an overview of a lot of scholarly research into the life of Christ from the 1800s, I became something of a deist. Basically, if someone as ethically inspiring as Schweitzer could hold such heterodox views (he apparently didn't believe in Christ's physical resurrection), I came to believe I could also and not be in danger of hell ("by their fruits you will know them"). Anyway, as my personal philosophy became increasingly open-minded, I did not change any of my non-drinking, non-smoking, chaste ways Smile. I even like to go out to the clubs and dance all night while my friends drink a lot and hook up. I have no problem with their ways, just don't engage in it myself. Up to this day I'm still a virgin, in fact never even kissed a girl, despite the fact that I had plenty of chances in college. I just never thought it was worth it if I didn't really care for the person. Sometimes of course there is the temptation for instant gratification, but deep down I think I will know when I meet the right person. I really believe what matters is not WHAT you do, but WHY you do it. If it's an expression of love, that's great! But even a single sentence uttered in hatred can leave a terrible scar.
